me

hello, my name is enrico varrasso and ’ve been a freelance illustrator for over sixteen years. i graduated from the ontario
college of art in 1989 with an editorial illustration diploma and have enjoyed doing it ever since. i’ve created images for
magazines like
forbes, the wall street journal, business 2.0, macworld, pc magazine, computerworld and the financial
post magazine
to name a few. i’ve also done plenty of work for trade magazines and design studios that you probably never
heard of (
student lawyer? national law journal? 2dimensions design? tudhope design? any of these ring a bell?).

regulars to my site will notice that i've simplified my work into two categories: "recent.work" and "stock.for.sale". the
recent.work" section of the site will let you see what i've been working on from the recent past and give you a glimpse
as to where i'm headed. once these pieces have have been pushed out by newer illustrations they will end up in the
"
stock.for.sale" section. as the name suggests here you’ll be able to choose one or more of many images i’ve created
over the years giving you the opportunity to use the work for a mutually agreed upon fee . this section has expanded and
is easier to navigate than on the old site. it has reached the point where i’m going to have to add a search field soon. i’ll
let you know when that happens but for now if there's something you'd like to use, or if you want to skip the searching,
contact me and we can discuss what you’re looking for.

all the work you see here was created on my mac using
adobe illustrator, photoshop, corel painter and my brain. i work
out the roughs on paper which are scanned into my computer and adjusted to my liking. they are then e.mailed to the client
who decides between the three or four ideas (in addition to any changes or specifics they would like to see in the final). when
all that has been worked out i go to final using illustrator to draw the “skeleton” of the illustration and photoshop, painter and
scanned images and textures to fill it all in. the first time my pieces appear as hard copies is when they are printed in the
magazines or whatever final medium they were destined for.

i figured my personal life wouldn’t be of interest to you so i left it out but if for some reason this abridged version hasn’t
bored you yet and you want to know more just call or e.mail me any time.

enjoy, enrico
