about
me
my
name is enrico varrasso and i've been an artist for most of
my life, creating art has always been an important part of
who i am.
i'm currently forty-three years old, am married (to paula)
and have three kids (isabella - 11, lucas - 7, and daniel -
2 years old).
i am a freelance illustrator (by day) and my work has
appeared in many magazines throughout the years
(the
wall street journal,
forbes, consumer reports magazine, pc world magazine,
etc.). my
illustrations have been accessible to the general public
for over
eighteen years but sadly my art has only been viewed and
owned by family and friends. i plan to change that and make
my work
as accessible to as many people as i can.
if i'm not creating (in one form or another) or interacting
with my family you'll probably find me sleeping. i'd be
sleeping most likely
because those are the two things that fill my days and my
life and i would'nt have it any other
way.
about my art
i've worked with quite a few art mediums over the years and
can't really say that any one of them has been able to hold
my attention
for very long. right now photography and computer generated
art are motivating me to create, i enjoy the instantaneous
feedback
i get from them. i view them as tools in the same way i
view a paint brush as one. without the creative mind to
drive them
they are just useless instruments waiting for a purpose.
i don't plan to sell work directly from the site, what i
hope will occur is that it will open doors to galleries,
licensing agencies and
individuals who want my art. people will be able to come to
this site, interact with me and see what i'm up to and look
back at
what i've done over the past weeks, months and years.
the one thing i'll tell you about my previous "artworld"
experiance is this: i have none. my
illustration career
is part of the reason
but the other reason is that i never fealt ready. my
critical eye has kept me from taking it beyond being just a
leisure pursuit. with
the passage of time and a stronger desire to take it
seriously i've finally decided to stop holding back and
"just go for it".
if there's anything you see here that is of interest to you
let me know. a call or e.mail is important to me and it
help me get a
better sense of what you like and don't like to see on the
site.
enjoy, enrico
